Coach Education

It has been identified that Swindon has a lack of active coaches, particularly multi-skills and multi-sports coaches that are capable of delivering basic Key Stage 1 and 2 sports sessions as well as sports specific sessions.

As a result, we are now working with both New College and Swindon College students along with other young leaders to run a coach education programme. The participants of the coach Education Programme have attended various courses such as: FA Level 1 Coaching Award, Multi-Skills Workshop and an introduction to Tag Rugby Course. The Coach Education participants are then mentored by Level 2 & 3 Coaches in a mixture of sports, to enable them to gain as wide an appreciation of sports delivery as possible.

As well as attending the above courses, all of our coaches must have the following as a minimum before commencing any sports coaching delivery (all must be valid within the last 3 years):

  • CRB Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Attendance on a Child Protection Workshop

If you are interested in training as a coach or developing your coaching qualifications further, please email Doug Imrie or call him on 01793 511033.
