STFC Football in the Community
SBC Football Development

Football in the Community was a national organisation but following the breakaway of the Premier League clubs the Football in the Community project is now part of the Football League in the Community. Swindon Town F.C joined the PFA scheme in 1991 and are now a registered charity known as Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust.

Shane Hewlett, Football Development Officer for Swindon Borough Council is seconded to STFC Football in the Community. In his dual role Shane is responsible for football development in the Borough.

Shane says "Football development in Swindon is continuing to grow in all areas. Our soccer centres are extremely popular and numbers have increased yet again, with over 800 children regularly attending weekly sessions. There's also been a number of girls attending sessions and last September saw the opening of the first all-girls centre."
