16+ Team

Who are we?

A team of workers with specialist skills from:

  • social workers
  • Education Youth Service

We will:

  • listen to you
  • support you
  • provide information
  • respect confidentiality (unless there are issues of protection and/or serious crime)

Who do we support?

  • Young people aged 16-21 who are or have been accommodated by the local authoritiy Social Services Department
  • Young people aged 16-17 who cannot live at home and are assessed as being in need
  • Young people from other countries who are separated from their families and seeking asylum

What do we do?

We offer advice and support on issues such as:

  • accommodation
  • all benefits
  • careers
  • training
  • further/higher education
  • health
  • employment
  • leisure activities

We also offer:

  • group work in preparation for independence
  • liaison with the voluntary sector
  • a weekly drop in centre and group work for young people from other countries who are separated from their families
