The Children and Families' Intervention Team offers support for those families in need - especially where there is a risk of family breakdown.
Our aims
Our work focuses on:
- Preventing a child from going into foster care
- Responding to a crisis if there is a risk of family breakdown
- Supporting a child's return home, following a period in foster care
- Providing support/services if a child's name has been placed on the Child Protection Register
Generally, we can offer support to families for a three month period. However, if there is a greater level of need, this can be extended to six months.
Additional support
We also offer:
- Families' parenting group for parents with children of primary school age
- Keep Safe Group aimed at children aged between six and eleven years.
- Individual support for children/young people
- Family workshop (offering family counselling/therapy)
- Family group conferences (service provided by Barnardos)
- Mixed Race Dual Heritage Group for children aged between seven and twelve years
The Children and Families' Intervention Team has close links with other agencies within the community, such as family centres, NSPCC, Sure Start, Stepping Forward, Connexions, Young Carers Project, Smash Mentoring Project and STEP (Swindon Ten to Eighteen Project).
We also work alongside health and education services to make sure that children and families receive the support they need.
If you think the Children and Families' Intervention Team can support you and/or your family, please discuss this with your social worker.
