Established in 1992, Connect supported employment service is one of the south-west’s leading supported employment agencies. Connect has been a forerunner in introducing motivated and able job seekers to local employers. Over the past decade, Connect has helped:
- 300 people into paid employment
- 80 people into voluntary employment
- 50 people into further training
The Employment Service, through the local Jobcentre Plus, recognises Connect as being a model of best practice in helping one of the most disadvantaged groups of people in the labour market gain employment.
Connect’s small team of seven people have an impressive total of 27 years' experience in this specialist field of work. In addition, team members have brought other experience, skills and expertise to the organisation from other areas such as education, care and the business sector.
Part of Swindon Borough Council, Connect is at the cutting edge of recent government initiatives, such as:
- Valuing People in the 21st Century white paper
- JIP Welfare to Work
- Modernisation of Day Services
