Emergency Care for Children

First Aid Logo

This 6 hour course will give anyone working with children the confidence to administer basic first aid to children between the age of 0 and 8 years.

The candidate will gain the knowledge and practical skills to make an assessment of an emergency, call the appropriate assistance and be able to administer basic first aid until the arrival of more qualified help.

  • Aims of a First Aider
  • Action Plans
  • Reporting of accidents
  • Making a diagnosis / assessment
  • Resuscitation and choking on Children 8 years and older
  • Resuscitation and choking on Children aged between 1-7 years
  • Resuscitation and choking on Babies (0-1 years)
  • Bleeding
  • Burns
  • Anaphylactic Shock
  • Reasons for unconsciousness
  • Poisioning
  • Head injuries
  • Falls and Fractures
  • Infantile convulsions
  • Croup

This course is not suitable for anyone involved in a 'registered' child care setting. It does not meet the requirements for Sure Start, OFSTED and EYFS.

All candidates must complete a requalification course every 3 years.

Prices

The cost of the Emergency Care for Children course is £53.00 excluding VAT per person, this includes a certificate and light refreshments.

Inhouse Training

We can visit your site, or you may use our training facilities if that is more suitable. Maximum 12 students per course. Lunches will be your responsibility. The cost for this one day course is £441.00 excluding VAT.
