About the Committee
The Safer & Stronger Communities Overview & Scrutiny Committee is responsible for reviewing any matter in relation to crime and disorder and issues that are important to local communities.
Its responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, scrutinising and developing policy recommendations
- Monitoring performance and progress against corporate priorities
- Scrutinising the Cabinet Member for Safer and Stronger Communities
- Scrutinising the Cabinet Member for Local Environment and Sustainability
- Scrutinising the Cabinet Member for Corporate Affairs as Lead Member for Domestic Violence
- Scrutinising the Safer and Stronger Communities Block of the Local Area Agreement
- Scrutinising the local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP).
Issues that may be considered by the Committee may include:
- Crime and disorder issues such as anti social behaviour or the use of CCTV
- Community and neighbourhood issues such as community facilities
- Services that impact on streets and public spaces in terms of their appearance and condition such as play areas, the condition of roads and pavements and street lighting.
